“Hooked on Swing” - I Love Dance Columbia “Open” Pageant Award for Tap

At the I Love Dance Columbia Pageant in Columbia, South Carolina,  Crystal and her Competition team won first place for Tap group dancing to “ Hooked on Swing.”  The dance competition was held at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center on Sunday, May 19, 1996.

Peer Gynt Fantasy “Anitra's Dance” - international Championship Award Ballet Soloist

 July 10, 1994, Crystal won first place for a ballet solo “Peer Gynt Fantasy” at the I Love Dance International Championship competition In Orlando Florida.  She won top honors for age Division 9-11.  The dance is called Anitra’s Dance. She is an Arabic Princess, the  daughter of a Bedouin Chief in Morocco.  The storyline is based on a Norwegian fairy Tale.

“Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” - International Championship Award Tap Duo/Trio

 In July 1994 at the I Love Dance International Championships,  Crystal and two of her competition team members won First Place for Tap Trio, age Division 9-11 to a dance entitled “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”.  Crystal’s competition team won First place for Tap, large Group 9-11 age Division.  They danced to “Rag Time”.   It was held at the Stouffer Orlando Resort in Orlando.

A Mermaid - Entwined with Colors of Love

 

October 2018, Crystal’s grandmother Mary had surgery to remove a tumor on her pancreas.  Crystal sit next to her grandmother and lovingly colored her a mermaid.  The drawing is intricately entwined with vibrant pastel colors.  She signed the art with a note “to the prettiest grandma in the world!  Love Crystal

Color pencil drawings was a hobby they loved and shared together.  To honor the love and bond between Crystal and her grandmother, a series of greeting cards, journals and gifts have been made from the art print of the mermaid.  Every card that is mailed is symbolic of their love and unbreakable bond.  Crystal Expressions cards are designed to continue her legacy and share the timeless bond of love.

Crystal’s first ballet performance was a dance from Mexico presented by the St. Augustine Academy of Dance Arts. The performance was in 1992, the ‘Applause 92’ spring dance was held at Kirk Auditorium, Florida School for the Death and Blind.  Crystal was 7 years old in the 2nd grade at Hartley Elementary School.

A Note from Holland

Isabelle of Holland sent a very complimentary note of appreciation for the card she received with a mermaid Art print ‘Sisters of the Sea”. 

It is people like Isabelle who bring sunshine into my life and encouragement to continue sharing Crystal’s artwork around the world.  I know Crystal would have been delighted and happy with Isabelle’s note.

Dance Capades - Gems of Avenue C

Crystal Fallin was a trained dancer in ballet, modern/lyrical, jazz and tap genres.   In 1993, her tap group performed  Gems of Avenue C at Flagler College Auditorium in “Dance Capades” presented by the St. Augustine Academy of Performing Arts.  She was a 3rd Grade student at Hartley Elementary School.  In the photo below, her jazz group performed to the music of “Friends”.  

Braid Mission ‘Cards of Hope’ Fundraiser

 

Crystal Expressions is donating 20 Handcrafted cards to Braid Missions to sell on their Etsy Store to raise funds to support their program assisting foster children in the San Francisco & Bay Area.   They are requesting card makers around the country to donate  handcrafted cards.  They plan to sell 1,000 cards to raise funds.

Crystal was in the third grade age 8 in 1993 when she did this art work.  It is divided into 8 sections with different shapes, dimensions and backgrounds for vases, flowers and cabinet doors.   She was gifted at an early age in drawing and selecting primary, secondary and complementary colors.
